About Us

I’m MJ and I started Book Wonder to provide a welcoming place for every person to see themselves as the hero of their favorite stories.

I found myself out-of-place and overlooked at traditional comic book stores, geared towards the white, male, heteronormative experience. As a parent and someone exploring my own gender and identity, I wanted to create a space where diverse books, comics and graphic novels were easy to find and incorporate into family collections and school libraries.

Book Wonder is a pop-up bookshop inside Trove Green Provisions in Medford’s Hillside neighborhood. Readers and visitors can explore and celebrate their culture, identity, heritage and life experience through the variety of graphic novels and books we offer. We feature both used and new books to keep titles affordable and accessible.

Proceeds from sales help fund our Little Free Diverse Library, as well as diverse literacy initiatives in our community.
